Sony Have Learned From Their Mistakes And Will Be Careful About Announcing Their Games Too Early, Says Yoshida

The big problem with Sony has always been one of them announcing their games too early. It has been most egregious this generation, when quite literally every single first party Sony game has been delayed at least once in the run up to its release (not to mention multiple that have been announced very early, then disappeared off the face of the earth, presumably until we are closer to their release years from now), but it has always been true- even on the PS3, for example, games like Gran Turismo 5, The Last of Us, and of course, The Last Guardian, were prime examples of this excess.

According to what Sony Worldwide Studios head Shuhei Yoshida said at a panel at the PlayStation Experience (via DualShockers) however, it looks like Sony are aware of their propensity to announce games too early, and will be trying not to repeat that mistake in the future. Speaking at the panel, Yoshida said that Sony will be cautious about announcing games too early, noting that games on the PS4 required far more time to develop than games on previous systems.

This, at least, is good news- I am frankly tired of all games that I care about being delayed, and delayed further, because they were announced too early. Other companies have this problem too (Nintendo with Zelda, or Atlus with Persona 5, not to mention Square Enix with Final Fantasy 15), but Sony are undoubtedly the worst offenders. Here’s to them changing this habit of theirs.
