10 Bad Ass Suits You Would Want To Get In

What would be the point of kicking ass if you didn’t look cool while you did it? But some heroes are coded in more visually pleasing ways than others, so let’s take some time to commend the best looking suits of armour worn in our games. No matter how awesome the hero may be, we’re looking for style here and not substance, though brownie points can be earned for ambitious design choices

10. Dragoon Armour – Legend of Dragoon

A rather obscure choice to start with, but an all important personal favourite of mine. The dragoon armour gets some serious kudos for its built in wings and the fact that you can magically transform into the armour, provided you have your appropriate dragoon spirit close at hand. It does however lose points for having an accompanying sword, the dragon buster, that can pretty much kill anyone who is a dragoon. Lame. That said, provided you avoid this particular kryptonite-like dragon slayer, you have wings and look awesome. Win.

9. OctoCamo suit – Metal Gear Solid 4

Who doesn’t like being invisible? To that end, you could always just use a stealth camo suit but that would be cheating. No we do it the old fashioned way; with a suit that alters its colours based on the environment. The animations of the suit morphing and changing as Snake lies on a surface is the definition of cool, and the fact that it even mimics lines in brick walls and grilles on metal wins points for attention to detail.

8. Augmented Reaction Suit – Vanquish

The ARS suit makes it look easy

The fast-paced gunplay of Vanquish was its big selling point, and this wouldn’t have been possible without the unique abilities of the Augmented Reaction Suit. The ARS has such handy abilities as letting you enter bullet time and propelling you along the floor as you rain hot lead on your adversaries. Sliding around on your knees looks weird at first, but is undeniably awesome in the long run. Points are lost for the fact that the main character, Sam Gideon, looks like a total douche bag the moment he pulls his visor down. Put it away mate, no one wants to see your ugly mug.

7. Isaac Clarke’s engineer suit – Dead Space

One man and his Plasma cutter. Or Ripper as in this case

We all love the underdog. It’s a simple matter of psychology. How much more underdog can you get then, than a technical engineer with little prior combat training taking on a spaceship full of space zombies? Not only that but the evolution of Clarke’s suits just make him look even more bad ass. That is provided you have the cash to buy them from the miraculously functional stores on board the spaceship. It just goes to show that money can buy you happiness.
