6. Big Daddy Armour – Bioshock 2
With a colourful and friendly name that completely offsets their huge stature, Big Daddies have become a mascot for Bioshock fans worldwide. As cool as the rustic style of the suit is, it is somewhat eclipsed by the fact that it has A MASSIVE FREAKING DRILL ON ITS ARM! Doesn’t get much better than that. Credit goes to Bioshock 2 for letting you inhabit the Big Daddy and pummel your splicer opponents mercilessly with your drill attachment prowess. Mwahaha.
5. Wanzers – Front Mission 3
“But Wanzers are mechs, not suits of armour!” I hear you exclaim. Whilst there’s definitely validity in your concerns, you do sit inside a Wanzer, which does kind of qualify it as armour of a kind. Whether it is a suit of armour or not, there’s no denying that Wanzers are pretty damn sweet. They just typify what everyone loves about giant robots. The years haven’t been kind to its graphics, but Front Mission 3 is the best example of the powerful Wanzers in action.
4. Jehuty – Zone of the Enders
If mechanised armour isn’t cool enough, then how about prototype mechanised armour that is quite clearly a cut above the rest? That’s exactly what the orbital frame, Jehuty, is. Plus, it offers its user a friendly companion in the form of a built in AI. And it can fly. In space. Sure its evil counterpart, Anubis, is meant to be more powerful but we all know Jehuty looks better.
