Last week it was revealed that Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding will be developed using Guerrilla Games’ Decima Engine. As is the case with any Hideo Kojima game, the graphics will be pushed to the limits and if The Game Awards Death Stranding trailer was anything to go by, Kojima Productions first ever title outside of Konami will be nothing short of stunning.

Taking to his Twitter account, Kojima spoke a bit about his vision for the game’s engine and how Guerrilla Games are pushing the envelope of video games development. He compared engine development to the space race during the Cold war and how it eventually stagnated due to the higher costs involved due to which people gave up on the space shuttle program. We are not sure whether this is true since many nations are still involved with space missions but on the other hand, when Hideo Kojima started working on Death Stranding he had his sights on the Moon. On meeting  Guerrilla Games he realized they were already aiming for Mars with their projects.

So Hideo Kojima decided to make a rocket i.e. reform Guerrilla Games engine that will enable them to not only reach Mars but to Jupiter. Of course, Hideo Kojima does not mean all of this in a literal sense and he is obviously talking about his massive goals that he has for Death Stranding, comparing it to Jupiter.

It will be interesting to see how this develops when the game comes out in 2018.
