Final Fantasy 7 Remake: You Will Have To Wait A Bit Longer For It, Director Says

"We’re making steady progress on its production."

Square Enix have a propensity to announce their games far too early, and then take far too long to release them, driving their fans crazy with anticipation in the process. The most extreme example of that is Final Fantasy 15, which released after ten years last year, but in general, this has always been a problem for the company.

Don’t expect it to change with the company’s upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Remake, the highly anticipated modernization of the beloved RPG, either. Speaking to Famitsu (translated by Siliconera), director Tetsuya Nomura confirmed that while development on the game was coming along, it would be a while before players get to play it.

“We’re making steady progress on its production. While we are indeed working on it, I think we’ll have you guys wait a little longer for both Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy VII Remake,” he said. “I do apologize for that, but we’ll make up for it by making it into something that will meet expectations. We didn’t share much information on either of the two titles last year, but I hope to show its progress at some event this year. The release of these titles will still be a while. However, we have many titles releasing this year, and we hope you look forward to any ‘surprises’.”

So for those of you who were hoping for at least the first episode of Final Fantasy 7 Remake to be available by the end of this year… well, it looks like you guys will be waiting slightly longer than that.
