NieR Automata Sales Hit 200,000 On PC In Less Than Two Weeks

Further demonstrating the viability of the PC market for Japanese games.

NieR Automata released on PC in addition to PS4- and the experiment appears to have been a success, since the game apparently became the latest Japanese title to find a lot of takers on Steam. NieR Automata has already sold 200,000 copies of the game on Steam, a little more than two weeks after release, according to independent tracking site SteamSpy.

This is actually a new record for Square Enix on Steam- NieR Automata is now their biggest revenue generator on Steam ever, and one of their fastest selling games ever. It has managed to achieve all this at full price, and while being a sequel to a long running series with a convoluted and storied history, with no previous game having appeared on PC, and without the Asian PC release, which is going to be region locked and in April, being considered.

All in all, that’s remarkably good performance- and demonstrates yet again why PC is a viable market that Japanese publishers should look at hitting (are you paying attention, Atlus?).
