Amnesia, Dear Esther Developer Criticizes Xbox Refund Policy

Some developers don't like Microsoft's newest move...

Microsoft is going to be initiating a brand new, excellent refund policy for digital games and products sold on Xbox One and Windows 10. It’s a well thought out one, too, and one that no one, not even the most ardent Xbox critics, should be able to hate on for any reason.

But it turns out some developers are taking issue with it- The Chinese Room, developers of Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, and Dear Esther, took to Twitter in sharp criticism of the policy, calling it ‘bollocks.’ Their point of contention? Microsoft allowing full refunds for games for up to two hours of play time. According to them, refunds should be proportional to completion percentage for any given game.

I find their stance completely unacceptable, and it also fails to account for the fact that Microsoft has measures in place to prevent abuse of the system. Sorry, but in the end, I think a system like this is good for customers- and like with all other industries, it’s time for the providers of services and goods to get with the program.
