Thief 5 Rumours Debunked by Eidos Montreal Head

"Forget it" says David Anfossi.

Apparently a rumour was going around that Deus Ex: Mankind Divided developer Eidos Montreal was working on a new Thief title. Thief 5, as it’s tentatively called, was “leaked” via a fake screenshot – and now Eidos Montreal studio head David Anfossi has debunked its very existence.

Over on Twitter, Anfossi attached the leaked image and said, “Apparently we’re developing Thief 5 game! So now we have a title…We just have to build a team, a budget…Forget it!”

Sounds like a hard enough “No” to us.

Eidos Montreal isn’t sitting idle though, despite the Deus Ex franchise being put on hold for the time being. It’s working on a new Avengers game for Marvel and is also rumoured to be developed Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the sequel to Rise of the Tomb Raider. No word yet on whether we see it at E3 2017 or not but at least that game’s existence seems more realistic than another Thief.
