Xbox One X Is Not A Threat To Nintendo Switch, Says Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime

He's not wrong...

The Nintendo Switch has launched, and been a wild success beyond all expectations. In a world where powerful consoles dominate, and smartphones and tablets have taken over the portable segment of the market, Nintendo has managed to come out with a portable-home console hybrid, not even as powerful as the base Xbox One, and break records in the process.

Is Nintendo afraid that the upcoming Xbox One X from Microsoft, which is boasted to be the ‘strongest console ever made’, might put a dampener on the party, however? Speaking to CNBC, Nintendo of America’s President Reggie Fils-Aime said no. “Our demographic is much wider,” Reggie said. “We want consumers from 5 to 95 playing our games. And by doing that we go down a path that makes our IP much more accessible. We’re much more family-friendly. We have a range of content for the most core gamer to a child who is wanting to get into gaming for the first time. So it’s a different approach for us, and that approach is winning.”

It’s hard to argue with Nintendo’s casting a new for the wider market- that is what has won them so many adoring fans worldwide, and given them successes like the DS, Wii, and 3DS. The Switch seems to be en route to joining that list, and it’s unlikely a high priced, premium system can stop that from happening.
