EA Vice President: Developing For Xbox One X Is Relatively Simple, Has A Relatively Known Architecture

"It's a relatively known architecture."

Anthem, BioWare’s new IP, was one of the games that Microsoft used at their E3 event to show off the powers of the Xbox One X, and with other titles like Battlefield 1Madden and FIFA following suite, it looks like EA are deeply invested in the upcoming console upgrade. And developing for what has been dubbed the most powerful console ever is actually easier than what EA’s vice president Patrick Söderlund had believed it would be.

When asked about what it’s been like to develop for the console, Patrick Söderlund said in an interview during Microsoft’s post-E3 show stream, “I’ll be honest with you, it’s been relatively simple. It’s a relatively known architecture, because we do a lot of our work PC-based. So it wasn’t too hard to get it up and running. We were surprised with how quickly we could get things to look good on it. Obviously there’s a few bugs and things that you always encounter, but in general, it took us maybe a week to be up and running in a way that the game looked great on it.”

Patrick Söderlund went on to confirm that the Anthem footage seen at Microsoft’s press event was running on an Xbox One X, while also confirming that other EA titles, including Madden, FIFA and Battlefield 1 were also ready to run on the system revision. “We have the same engine for them all,” Patrick Söderlund said while speaking about the games that have already made their way to the One X. “So once we port one game, we have basically done all the work.”

The Xbox One X launches on November 7, and boasts of an impressive range of capabilities. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more updates on everything to do with the Xbox One X.
