Sledgehammer Games is putting in the work to ensure that Call of Duty: WW2 is a fun experience and it’s doing so by addressing some of the more annoying aspects of the franchise till date.
Studio head Michael Condrey first discussed Supply Drops in a recent Reddit AMA, noting that there won’t be any different stats to weapons and gear this time around. “All weapon variants and gear variants in Call of Duty: WW2 supply drops are cosmetic only, so there are no stat-based variants in play.”
You can also earn some of the new items by other means. “We’re also offering players Collections and Collection Bounties, giving a direct path for our community to earn items through all modes of [multiplayer] and Headquarters play,” said Condrey.
As for the tick rate on servers, which has been a major deterrent to multiplayer enjoyment, Call of Duty: WW2 will now operate on a 60 Hz tick rate according to Condrey. “We update packets at 60 times per second in both directions when network bandwidth allows.”
In keeping with the hybrid server system that’s been around since Call of Duty: Ghosts, users can expect a better experience even on dedicated servers when they’re available. Of course, it will still come down to your bandwidth so keep that in mind when the lag hits hard.
Call of Duty: WW2 arrives on November 3rd for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
