Illfonic’s Friday the 13th: The Game has sold 1.8 million units since launching two months ago. The initial launch saw a number of issues from bugs to connection issues but the developer has been working hard to resolve them.
Publisher Gun Media announced the sales numbers with studio head Wes Keltner noting the issues at launch. Keltner said that it’s been a “long two months” for both parties and that, “We have had an incredibly supportive and dedicated community since we launched, and while things haven’t been completely smooth we definitely feel confident moving forward.
“The team has grown and we are committed as we work to add more content, more kills, more to do, and of course the single player component to the game.” Keltner actually teased the single-player component back in late June, stating that if the game was though of as a film, then multiplayer would be reel 4 while single-player would be at reel 1. Basically, that’s when the AI has no idea about their imminent demise.
Friday the 13th: The Game will be seeing a physical release on October 13th, which is coincidentally Friday the 13th (and also the same day that The Evil Within 2 will also be out). The physical version will retail for $40 on the Xbox One and PS4 and will feature a clothing pack for the counselors as well as the Bloody Jason skin.
