Dragon Quest 11 And Nintendo Switch Top Charts In Newest Media Create Numbers

The Japanese gaming market is back, baby!

Posted By | On 09th, Aug. 2017

The Japanese game market is reinvigorated on the back of three extremely healthy platforms, and multiple high profile new game releases, all of which have gone on and done very well for themselves. Over on the hardware front, we have the Nintendo Switch topping charts, with almost 62,000 units sold. The 3DS comes in second with almost 60,000 units sold, while the PS4 comes in third with an extremely healthy 52,000 units sold.

On the software front, the 3DS version of Dragon Quest 11 topped the charts, with the PS4 version of the game in second place. Incidentally, the PS4 version of Dragon Quest 11 is now also the first million seller ever on the platform in the country. Splatoon 2 on the Nintendo Switch rounds out the top three on the charts.

With Obon holidays coming up soon, and the Switch, PS4, and 3DS all revitalized and continuing to do exceedingly well for themselves, the Japanese market seems like it is back to being healthy- and it has been a long time in the coming, too. You can check the entire chart below:
