Microsoft Confirm They Are Still Talking To Sony About Cross Platform Play

The villains as far as cross platform play is concerned are Sony, who refuse to allow cross platform play with any other console- a shocking stance, especially since even a company as traditionally regressive and averse to online as Nintendo allows for it on the Nintendo Switch.

One of the most notable paragons of cross platform play will be Microsoft owned Minecraft, which, in what is possible the largest cross platform exercise ever, will be uniting players across Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android, and Windows 10- leaving only PlayStation owners out of the party, at Sony’s own insistence.

However, Microsoft has not given up- speaking to GameReactor, Xbox’s Aaron Greenberg confirmed that the company is still talking to Sony about making cross platform play a reality.

“Absolutely, yeah. We’re talking to Sony [about crossplay], we do partner with them on Minecraft and of course we would like to enable them to be part of that; one community, to unite gamers. So we’re talking to them and we’re hopeful that they’ll be supportive of it,” he said.

Hopefully, Sony eventually capitulates- the future is cross platform, and Sony is single handedly being a hindrance to that reality being realized.
