After an almost decade long hiatus, Nintendo’s Metroid series is returning this year with the 2D Metroid: Samus Returns, a remake of the cult classic, fan favorite Metroid 2: Return of Samus, as well as Metroid Prime 4 on the Nintendo Switch next year.

Metroid: Samus Returns launches in just a couple of weeks, so Nintendo has been ramping up the publicity for the game- take this brand new trailer for it that came out of Gamescom, for instance. This trailer walks us through what we can expect from Samus Returns in terms of gameplay and story- a lot of it will be familiar to series veterans, but there is a lot here that seems to be new.

Metroid: Samus Returns launches on the Nintendo 3DS exclusively, next month. Between the trailers, ads, special edition 3DS, Amiibo, and Limited Editions for the game, Nintendo is giving it quite a push- hopefully, the game sells well, so Nintendo sees conclusively that there is a demand for Metroid after all.
