PUBG Developers Are Officially Known As PUBG Corp Now

This bodes well for the game’s future.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has become a legitimate phenomenon, breaking all manner of concurrency and sales records on Steam, and becoming the most talked about game in a year that has been full of fantastic software.

It’s become big enough that its developer has decided to name itself after the game it created—PUBG Corp will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Bluehole (the publisher of the game), and will be “focused entirely on the development and global business opportunities”.

Given how fantastic the sales of the game have been, this makes total sense-and I have to imagine that having an entire company dedicated to this game will make it into the kind of pop culture mainstay that properties like Minecraft and Pokemon (the latter of which also incidentally got a subsidiary named after it after its initial success) became.

PUBG is available now on PC, with an Xbox One version due for launch later this year.
