Dragon Age: Inquisition

Bioware veteran Mike Laidlaw has announced his departure from the studio which he’s worked at for 14 years. Laidlaw revealed the news on Twitter and said he’s looking forward to spending time playing games made by his peers. He did assure fans that the world of Dragon Age is in good hands and that he’s “excited for the road ahead.”

Laidlaw first joined Bioware to work on Jade Empire which released on the original Xbox in 2005. He’s since worked on a number of titles since then like Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, Mass Effect and the entire Dragon Age series. Dragon Age: Inquisition saw Laidlaw take over as the creative director and though the game saw its fair share of criticism for its quest design, it was generally lauded as a return to form after Dragon Age 2.

Though fans may be worried about the series’ future, executive producer Mark Darrah said he’s excited for “what the next Dragon Age will be”. What are your thoughts on the departure of Mike Laidlaw? Let us know in the comments below.
