Assassin’s Creed VR Experience Being Worked On By Ubisoft

But it will be a VRCade game, so you won't be able to play it on your headset at home.

Assassin's Creed Unity

Ubisoft has been one of the publishers most willing to take a chance on VR – which makes sense, they always jump headfirst into new hardware opportunities – but now, it seems like they will be working on bringing a full fledged Assassin’s Creed experience to VR.

VRFocus reports that Ubisoft and Triotech will work together to bring us the Assassin’s Creed VR Experience. Which sounds wonderful, because, again, this is a franchise that would greatly benefit from VR.

“We have watched the evolution of Virtual Reality technology closely over the last few years,” said Ernest Yale, founder, President & CEO of Triotech. “We feel that with this solution we have a strong offering to the market when considering both the content and the technology but most importantly, the guest experience.”

“This partnership is part of Ubisoft’s strategy to open new doors to our rich video game worlds such as Rabbids and Assassin’s Creed, enabling us to create immersive experiences for our fans while reaching out to new audiences”, said Deborah Papiernik, Senior Vice President, New Business of Ubisoft.

Now for the kicker- this is not a game being targeted at home VR headsets. Rather, it is a game that will release exclusively for VRCades- in this case, at the Ubisoft Center in Pointe-Claire, Montreal, Canada. So basically, you can play Assassin’s Creed in VR… as long as you visit Pointe-Claire in Canada.

The hope here is that it does well enough that Ubisoft looks into bringing it to home VR setups too. Given that this is supposed to be room scale, I don’t think it will work on Oculus or PSVR, but definitely HTC Vive- maybe next year?
