Heat Signature

Suspicious Developments, better known as the developer behind Gunpoint, has released a significant new update for its latest game Heat Signature. That’s the “Hotline Miami in space” overhead action puzzler you’ve probably heard about where you “make terrible mistakes, and think of clever ways out of them.”

The latest update is called “The Fair Points” and in it, the developer seeks to address some of the major issues that critics had with the game. For example, are missions with shielded and armoured guards getting you down? The player is now told about each type of guard in a mission and how many there will be. Acid and Crash Traps have also been added which let you deal with armoured and shielded enemies that much easier – Acid Traps destroy armour while Crash Traps disrupt electronic shields.

Another “fair point” is how progression is too slow if you can’t do Hard missions. The developer thus added a Liberator for those who haven’t liberated a station for some period of time. This is a randomly generated character with high level gear and a personal mission for liberating a station. They have all the tools required to get in and get the job done.

The developer also made sure to clarify that there won’t be tons of free updates like this. “This update is a one-off, we don’t plan to do updates like this on a regular basis. We might add items from time to time, but only buy the game if you want the game as it stands – we don’t make promises about future content.”

Heat Signature is currently discounted by 20 percent on Steam. Head on over there to pick it up or acquire all of the developer’s games in a bundle with 20 percent off the price.
