After the incredulous performance that the Nintendo Switch pulled in on Black Friday online- apparently, it was the highest selling thing in the US on Black Friday, period- not just console, highest selling anything– according to Adobe Digital Insights, it looks like it went on to repeat the feat just two days later. Adobe Digital Insights is reporting the Switch was the most sold item in the US on Cyber Monday too.
As for what Adobe Digital Insights is– Adobe analyses point of sales data from 80% of the online retail websites in the US to track and estimate results. It’s a impressive sample, and their algorithm is well backed up. That said, it is not entirely representative, because it doesn’t account for retail sales (which account for more than half of all sales in the US; albeit, maybe not as much on Cyber Monday?), and also misses out on a fifth of the online retailers.
Still, even with those caveats, the Switch placing so consistently high is excellent news- it seems to indicate that the console is selling a lot, even at full price, even with constrained stock. Now to see what Nintendo does to maintain its momentum. All eyes are on them.
