Star Wars Battlefront 2 is One of EA’s “Best Games” – Blake Jorgensen

EA CFO says that player retention day over day is better than "almost any of our games".

When the loot box controversy first flared up for Star Wars Battlefront 2, it was without the knowledge of how good or bad the multiplayer and progression was, the quality of the campaign and so on. Despite criticisms regarding the campaign quality, latency issues and so on, Electronic Arts CFO Blake Jorgensen still believes that it’s one of the best games the publisher has ever built.

Speaking at an investor presentation during the Credit Suisse 21st Annual Technology conference, Jorgensen said that this feedback comes from the players currently engaged with it and that player retention is better for Star Wars Battlefront 2 than most other EA titles.

“The great news is, this is one of the best games we’ve ever built. And we’re hearing that from the players who are actually playing the game and engaging in the game. The retention day over day is better than we’ve seen in almost any of our games, the depth of the game is incredible, the size of the game unbelievable, and we’ll be adding in the next couple of weeks more content than we’ve ever added in a game before.”

He also noted that new content will be releasing when Star Wars: The Last Jedi rolls around and that “all sorts of new gameplay” will be focused on that. Though Jorgensen didn’t shy away from the issue of loot boxes and said the company was paying attention, there was no update on how the pay-to-win elements would be changed in the coming months.
