Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been garnering Game of the Year awards left and right. And while it hasn’t even been a year since its release, series producer Eiji Aonuma confirmed that a new Zelda game was currently in development.

As reported by Game Informer, Aonuma announced this news in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild art book Master Works. No further information was provided and we’d be surprised if Aonuma and crew even know what kind of game it will be.

This announcement does come on the heels of director Hidemaro Fujibayashi saying he has “lots of ideas” for what could come next. Whether that quote refers to more Breath of the Wild content or a full-fledged sequel, it could very likely refer to the former thanks to Aonuma’s confirmation.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has sold 4.7 million units and is currently the best-selling title for Nintendo Switch. Where would you like to see the Zelda series go next? Let us know below.
