Monster Hunter World is almost here- and it will be a hugely important and exciting game for a lot of reasons. It is the return of Monster Hunter to PlayStation after almost a decade, the debut of the franchise on Xbox and PC, and the first console Monster Hunter game made since 2009. In other words, it is an exciting game for franchise fans and newcomers alike.

But making a console game is very different from making a handheld game- there is a world of a difference between the 3DS and the PS4. How did Capcom’s developers approach making a new Monster Hunter game for current generation consoles? A new video for the game, which you can see for yourself below, explains the development process a bit.

Monster Hunter World will launch this Friday, on January 26, for PS4 and Xbox One. A version of the game is also going to launch in Fall for PC.
