Not all JRPGs can enjoy the kind of publicity that Final Fantasy enjoys, and Ys is one of these series. With about 9 core titles in the series, depending on how you count, the series roots that precede the NES are impossible to deny. Now, for the first time, Xbox gamers can look forward to an entry in the series, filling a much needed JRPG role for the console.
DotEmu, the publisher and developer of the series, announced through social media that Ys Origins would finally be making its way to the Xbox One family of systems by Spring 2018. At the same time, they released an Xbox One teaser trailer to whet the fans appetites.
Ys Origins was originally a 2006 PC release, with the PC version finally being localized in 2012 and a PS4 and Vita release in 2017. Ys VIII: Lacrosma of Dana also released in the west in 2017, and is the latest title in the series. It also comes to Nintendo Switch sometime this year.
