Crash Bandicoot: N.Sane Trilogy is coming to the Nintendo Switch, PC, and Xbox One this year, on July 10. It’s the first chance that Xbox, Nintendo, and PC owners have gotten to play the classic Crash games, arguably his greatest outings, period, yet- so naturally, excitement for the impending release is pretty damn high in those quarters.
And while N.Sane Trilogy stands out for being a hugely faithful remake of the PS1 originals, on PC, Switch, and Xbox One, it will differ from those games, and from the PS4 version that launched last year, in one key aspect- all references to Naughty Dog, who developed the original trilogy for PS1, have been deleted. This makes sense- after all, Naughty Dog is now owned by Sony, and Sony wouldn’t want their name associated with rival platforms (while said rival platforms wouldn’t want to advertise their competition’s premier first party studio).
Still, I suppose that’s a bit of a bummer in terms of preservation or accuracy of the original games as is- at least they will play fantastically. In the end, that is what matters most.
