Metro Exodus To Use Nvidia’s RTX Ray Tracing

A thousand video cards are screaming out in terror right now.

4A Games’ Metro Exodus is set to continue the long series tradition of pushing the technological boundaries of the PC, and now they’ve revealed that Metro Exodus will be among the first games on the platform to make use of NVIDIA RTX Ray tracing technology.

The announcement that 4A was using the tech came down through their official Twitter page, talking about how they’re excited to be working with NVIDIA and using the brand new tech. The technology was announced by NVIDA earlier this week.

For the layman, Ray tracing is a rendering technique that uses a lot of computational power to simulate how light would interact with an object in a realistic way. The exciting part is that NVIDIA has this up and running real time, which allows this highly photorealistic technique to be used within gameplay should your system be able to handle it.

4A also announced that a tech demo from the GDC event would be inbound, which should show off the benefits of the tech very nicely. It seems that 4A Games and Metro Exodus are well on its way to upholding their long legacy of blowing up video cards.
