Ubisoft Opening New Studios in India and Ukraine

More studios to join their worldwide lineup.

Ubisoft has studios all over the world, and it has just announced that it will be opening two more. The first of these will be in India- specifically in India’s financial capital, Mumbai. Given that Mumbai is a hub for financial activity and young tech talent, this should prove to be a prudent move for Ubisoft.

“Our ambition is to contribute towards the development of the Indian videogame ecosystem by partnering closely with top schools and institutions,” said Jean-Philippe Pieuchot, managing director for Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai.

Ubisoft Mumbai is the second major studio that Ubisoft has opened in India, right alongside Ubisoft Pune. The studio will have up to 100 developers, and will work with Ubisoft Pune on assisting Ubisoft’s worldwide studios in AAA game development.

Ubisoft has also opened a brand new studio in Odesa, Ukraine, which makes it the latest addition to Ubisoft’s roster of Eastern European studios. “Odesa has a lot to offer in terms of talent, in particular tech professionals. We’re always on the lookout for high potential markets with the passion, skills, and expertise to create the very best games, and Odesa’s reputation in several key fields makes this investment the perfect match,” said the publisher about the newest studio.

Given that Ubisoft has recently won its financial and creative freedom against the impending threat of a buyout by Vivendi, hopefully we will see these studios contribute to Ubisoft’s fantastic lineup of games in the coming years.
