Sea of Thieves Gets Its Very First Pirate Legend, But a Lot of Players Aren’t Impressed

Other players don’t like how this rank was achieved.

In Sea of Thieves, currently the end game is for you to reach Level 50 in reputation with all three factions in the game , which bestows upon you the rank of Pirate Legend, which you do by taking on quests from each of the three factions in game, and turning in loot over and over—it’s a grind is what I’m trying to say, and it takes a hell of a lot of time.

Until now, no one has managed to do it—but now, streamer ProdigyX has become the first player to reach Level 50 in game, earning the title of Pirate Legend, as well as a new shanty and new costume. As rewards go, this isn’t the best thing in the world, to be honest.

That’s not even the only controversy here, though—a lot of people are taking issue with how ProdigyX achieved his rank of Pirate Legend. You see, he had his viewers and fans help him, with a lot of times, them grinding gold for him that he would go turn in to the factions for a Reputation Boost. While this may seem unfair to a lot of people, this is a) a game about community, and Rare actively encourages community interactions, and b) no different than higher leveled people helping their lower leveled friend through the early quests in an MMO. The controversy here is stupid.

What’s not stupid are the rewards—come on Rare. Sea of Thieves is out now on PC and Xbox One.
