Aquiris Game Studio’s Horizon Chase Turbo may look like a racing game that pays homage to retro classics like Out Run, Top Gear and Rush but there’s quite a lot going on under the hood (no pun intended). Having recently launched for PS4 and PC, GamingBolt had a chance to speak to game designer Felipe Dal Molin to learn more about what’s going on with the visuals especially with regards to PS4 Pro support.

When we asked about the PS4 Pro’s Polaris features and Delta colour compression, along with how the developer would be taking advantage of them, Dal Molin replied that, “Since these features are inside the GPU architecture, all games benefit from them indirectly.”

For Horizon Chase Turbo especially, it was possible to achieve 4K resolution at 60 FPS. “In the case of Delta Compression, I’m sure it helped us achieve native 4K with 4xMSAA enabled at 60FPS due to the higher effective bandwidth and fill rate in the Pro’s GPU.”

Of course, with how much more powerful the Xbox One X is compared to the PS4 Pro, why not launch the game for Xbox One as well? When posed this question, Dal Molin said that it was simply a matter of associating with Sony much sooner. Xbox One players won’t be left in the cold for long though.

“Our relationship with Sony started much earlier than with Microsoft so we got all the dev kits and such in place before. Anyway, we’re looking forward to having Horizon Chase Turbo running smoothly to all Xbox players as soon as possible.”

What are your thoughts on Horizon Chase Turbo and would you like to play it for the Xbox One? Let us know in the comments. Stay tuned for our full interview on Horizon Chase Turbo in the coming days.
