Battlefield 1943 Available on Xbox One Backward Compatibility Today

Now you can play a WW2 Battlefield game way ahead of Battlefield 5's October release!

Battlefield 5 may be heading to Xbox One (and PS4 and PC) later this year, but Xbox players also have a chance to play a WW2 Battlefield game today- Battlefield 1943, from the early glory days of the franchise, will be made available to Xbox One players via Backward Compatibility today, Major Nelson has confirmed on Twitter.

Battlefield 1943 was a smaller scale spin off of Battlefield 1942, which was released on Xbox 360 via the Xbox Live Arcade. It was still loads of fun in spite of its smaller scope, however, thanks to its more arcadey take on the series’ gameplay. It will also be available on EA Access starting today, is another bit of good news- so you don’t even have to buy or own the game to be able to play it on your console. Good stuff all around.

Meanwhile, Battlefield 5 launches on Xbox One, PS4, and PC in October this year.
