Pete Hines: Fallout 76 PvP Isn’t What Players Are Expecting

No griefing in the wasteland.

Fallout 76

The next entry for the popular Fallout series, Fallout 76 was blown open at E3 2018 to both the delight and chagrin of many series fans, due to the online multiplayer focus undertaken by the game. While those who wince at the online elements of the game have concerns over how this might turn the game into a free for all with griefers, Bethesda continues to state that it isn’t like that.

Within an interview with Game Reactor at E3, Pete Hines promised that players can expect something fresh out of the game. “We aren’t the type of company and they’re not the type of developer that looks at what somebody else is doing and says ‘oh, we’re just gonna do that’, said Hines. He would reiterate previous information that the PvP is more like a challenge system, and that small player counts would keep players from continuously tracking down and griefing specific players.

Hines does see where the reactions are coming from, knowing that the term ‘Online’ immediately brings to mind images of being constantly shot at and harassed, and just wants to put out there that Bethesda is aware of this issue. “The fact is, this just doesn’t fit into the mould of anything else, because that’s what Bethesda Game Studios does,” Hines stated.
