Overkill's The Walking Dead

Overkill’s The Walking Dead was showcased at E3 and we’ve already seen a couple of trailers of the game. Now, we’ve been able to learn quite a lot of details about the game thanks to a recent Reddit AMA in which the developers answered quite a lot of questions about their game.

One Redditor pointed out the stiff animations that was seen in the E3 gameplay. To this, the developer stated that their focus has been on gameplay so far, and that they are now working on polishing up the game and making it look prettier. The developers also answered a question regarding a monetization and stated that after release they will “offer a mix of paid and free DLCs” but there will be no loot boxes in the game.

The developers also confirmed that while the game is an online co-op mode, lone wolves can enjoy the game by themselves since the game’s difficulty will scale according to the number of players in a party. The system specifications listed on the Steam Store page are rather high, but it looks like it could be lowered in the future. Regarding this, the developer stated, “The specifications on Steam store are subject to change as we optimize, but we have decided to put them in the high end to ensure that any potential changes will mean that more people can play it, rather than fewer.”

Additionally, the game will not feature split-screen co-op or cross-platform play. The closed beta for the game will go live in the weeks leading up to the game’s release.

Overkill’s The Walking Dead is set to release for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
