The official adaptation of the classic pen and paper RPG, Call of Cthulhu is almost here. Focus Home Interactive and developers Cyanide Studios have announced that the madness will begin this Halloween, with the officially announced release of Call of Cthulhu being October 30, 2018. Coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC, this official reveal comes just the day after the Steam page leaked the release date prematurely.

The publisher describes the game as a narrative driven RPG. “Lock the doors, turn off the lights, and uncover the chilling mysteries of this Narrative RPG game, descending deep into a world of inevitable insanity and shrouded Old Gods within Lovecraft’s iconic universe,” they say. Players walk the Private Investigator Edward Pierce across the razor thin line between him and the abyss as he unravels the goings on with the cults hoping to wake the Great Dreamer. A new set of screenshots has also been released take a look below.

“Nothing is as it seems,” reads the press release. “Sanity is an irregular bedfellow, all too often replaced by whisperings in the dark. Strange creatures, weird science, and shadowy cults dominate the Cthulhu Mythos, intent on realizing their mad schemes to bring about the end of all. Your mind will suffer – balancing a razor-thin line between sanity and madness, your senses will be disrupted until you question the reality of everything around you. Trust no one. Creeping shadows hide lurking figures… and all the while, the Great Dreamer prepares for his awakening.”

According to previous interviews with Cyanide Studios, the entire journey should take about 15 hours to complete, though there may be reason enough to tiptoe through madness for a second time to experience the alternate paths. Are you excited for the game? Let us know in the comments below.
