The next major system software update for the PS4,, version 6.0 is in the works, and Sony Interactive Entertainment is now recruiting beta testers for it. At first, registration was open only for the Japanese PlayStation Network, but now North American registration is open as well.

Registration will be open from today, i.e. July 19 until July 27, so you have some time to make up your mind in case you’re interested. As of now, no information has been revealed regarding what the new update will bring to users, but we can expect some noticeable changes at least, unlike some of the many minor updates in recent weeks and months. Sony had taken help from beta testers for the 5.50 patch, which brought new features like a supersampling mode, the ability to have custom wallpapers, and more.

Since version 6.0 represents a whole jump in numbers, there may be even some even bigger changes that we can expect to see. For now, we’ll just have to wait for more information.
