Stellaris is a pretty decent game from Paradox Interactive. Although certainly not their best work, it’s a fairly enjoyable 4X strategy game. It has been out on PC for a couple of years now, and while it’s true that such games are rarely seen on consoles,  Paradox, it seems, are looking to change things up a bit. So it comes as good news that Stellaris: Console Edition has now been announced for the PS4 and Xbox One, with a brand new announcement trailer, which you can view below.

In Stellaris, you are tasked with trying to survive, adapt, and conquer out in space, which won’t be an easy task, since you will come across various factions of a number of alien species that are hostile to you. You will also have to manage your resources, diplomacy, research, and more, so fans of games such as Civilization will be familiar with the core mechanics here.

Regarding the Console Edition, Paradox Interactive’s Game Director Daniel Moregard pointed out how such games are a rarity on consoles, and this is why they decided to the bring Stellaris to the Xbox One and PS4- “to take that leap”, in his own words. He stated, “Grand strategy is often considered a niche genre even on the PC, but we believe that while a console audience exists, a game like Stellaris simply hasn’t made it to those platforms yet. With the help of Tantalus’ expertise, we’re happy to take that leap! Console players can look forward to the true grand strategy experience and continued DLC and support after launch with Stellaris: Console Edition.”

You can check out the announcement trailer for Stellaris: Console Edition, along with some newly released screenshots and artwork below. The game will be playable at Gamescom 2018, which takes place between August 21 and August 25.
