Soulcalibur 6 Might Possibly Receive A Second Guest Character From A Different Franchise

Looks like Geralt of Rivia might have some company down the road.

SoulCalibur 6 Geralt

Soulcalibur games have a long and amazing history of featuring guest characters from other franchises. They started with Link and Mishima in Soulcalibur 2, moved to Dante in Soulcalibur 3, then to Darth Vader and Yoda in Soulcalibur 4, then Kratos in the PSP’s Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny, then finally to Ezio Auditore in Soulcalibur 5. The upcoming Soulcalibur 6 is proudly carrying forward that tradition, with The Witcher’s amazing and widely and deeply beloved protagonist, Geralt of Rivia, headlining its roster as the guest character.

However, as it turns out, it might have something else up its sleeve as well. As we already know, of Soulcalibur 6’s six upcoming DLC updates, four are new characters. One of these was recently confirmed to be fan-favourite Tira (much to the anguish of some fans who feel having to pay for her is grating, which is understandable), while the other three remain unannounced. Interestingly enough, while speaking with DualShockersSoulcalibur 6 producer Motohiro Okubo mentioned that the “possibility exists” that of the three unannounced characters, one might be another guest character from a different franchise.

After Tekken 7’s addition of Geese Howard was brought up, Okubo spoke positively about the character- take from that what you will. Kazuma Kiryu, the protagonist of the Yakuza franchise was also brought up, but Okubo said he feels he’s more suited to something like Tekken than Soulcalibur– which makes sense, because Soulcalibur is, for the most part, deeply rooted in a medieval setting.

Interesting, to say the very least. Personally, I would like to see Final Fantasy XV’s Noctis get some love, but feel free to throw your own predictions into the hat (or tell me why mine will never happen). Soulcalibur 6 launches on October 19 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The developers have stated that if the game doesn’t do well, it might be the last Soulcalibur game. Also, a Nintendo Switch version some time down the line isn’t completely out of the question yet.
