For all the hype around the major exclusives from Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo, action titles like FromSoftware’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice have been standing out at E3 and Gamescom. While there’s plenty of competition from the likes of Nioh 2 and Ghost of Tsushima, the pedigree of the minds behind Dark Souls and Bloodborne can’t be underestimated. After its recent showing at Cologne, we decided to take a look at 15 cool things about Sekiro that you probably didn’t know. So without further ado, let’s get to it.

Set in Sengoku Era Japan

Sekiro Shadows Die Twice_02

Perhaps the most defining aspect of Sekiro is its setting, the late 16th century of the Sengoku period in Japan. The Sengoku era was defined by constant war along with figures such as Oda Nobunaga and Tokugawa Ieyasu. Of course, while Sekiro is aiming for a more real-world setting, the game world itself is a fantastical version of the same. You’ll see grotesque monsters and other beings along with humans.
