Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 – Blackout May Not Hit 60 FPS

Treyarch's David Vonderhaar says 60 FPS is the target but it might not happen.

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Blackout

The Blackout beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will begin in just a few days for PS4 players (those who pre-ordered, that is). While a ton of interesting details are coming out, namely the map size, the presence of zombies and whatnot, design director David Vonderhaar does have some slightly disheartening new. As it turns out, the Battle Royale mode may not hit 60 frames per second.

Speaking to Game Informer as part of its ongoing coverage for the game, Vonderhaar said that the mode can run at 60 frames per second, and that this frame rate is always the target. However, it may not be able to hit that. Black Ops 4 won’t be locked to 30 frames per second though, so that’s good news.

Also, it’s not certain which platforms could miss having a 60 FPS frame rate. With a large map, 80 players in total for a single match, and numerous other features like vehicles and zombies, Treyarch may be trying to take things slow with the current frame rate. The beta starts on September 10th for PS4 and September 15th for Xbox One and PC. It will then be open to all players on September 16th.
