DICE have been making a number of changes to Battlefield V based on the feedback they’ve been receiving from the beta. Now, the developers have stated that they will also be toning down some of the crazier customization options in the game for the sake of historical realism and authenticity.

A few days ago, DICE had hosted a livestream with Community Manager Dan Mitre and the game’s producer Andrew Gulotta. Fans have expressed their concerns with the game’s lack of historical realism, and it didn’t look like the developers were going to change their stance with the game. However, during the livestream, Gulotta stated, “We heard the community. We’re still looking at World War II through DICE’s lens, but how forward, how crazy we got with some of that? We heard the community, we understand there were some concerns about, hey, where’s the authenticity? We want players to be excited about customizing their characters with authentic gear. We dialled it back a bit. It was pretty crazy. We wanted to offer some authenticity, and that’s important to us, that’s important to our players.”

However, that doesn’t mean they’re doing a complete 180 on this front either. Gulotta stated that they might add in some of the crazier customization options based on what the fans’ reactions are. For now, it looks like they are just going to focus on authenticity. Gulotta stated, “Nothing is off the table. Again, we’ll watch how the community reacts, maybe we’ll try something. The nice thing about the armory, is we can put something out there, and if it doesn’t stick, it doesn’t stick. But first and foremost, we want to start with this authenticity approach.”

Battlefield V is set to release for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on November 20.
