Sony’s PlayStation Classic, which was announced yesterday, is a plug-and-play microconsole in the vein of Nintendo’s NES Classic Mini and SNES Classic Mini. In other words, it’s a miniature replica of the original hardware that comes pre-loaded with some of the most beloved games from the system’s library.

We don’t actually know what those games will be. While Sony confirmed some of them in its announcement yesterday, such as Final Fantasy 7, we weren’t given the full list just yet. However, speaking to Famitsu (with the translation done by Gematsu), SIE Vice President Hiroyuki Oda confirmed that the games that come with the hardware in Japan will be different than the games that come loaded on to it in the rest of the world. Oda said that each title is going to be carefully selected, and will be representative of what PlayStation as a console was.

It makes sense. PlayStation was the first globally successful console, and the games that were most beloved on it varied between markets. Sony wanting to reflect that in its game selection for the hardware is reasonable- Nintendo did the same thing with its NES Classic Mini, after all.

The PlayStation Classic launches December 3.
