Nintendo Fulfills Terminal Cancer Patient’s Wish To Play Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

A heartwarming, but bittersweet, story.

Posted By | On 21st, Sep. 2018

Chris Taylor got diagnosed with terminal cancer, after having successfully gone into remission in the past, and was told he would only have a few months to live. He realized this would also mean that he may not get to play Nintendo’s already announced Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which he is looking forward to immensely, and posted his fear of not getting to play it on Twitter. The story managed to get the attention of many on social media, who decided to help him get Nintendo’s attention.

In a heartwarming turn, Nintendo decided to let him play the game ahead of its launch, with Nintendo reps showing up at his place with a Switch and the E3 build of the game. It was an amazing gesture, and surely brought some happiness to him- his Twitter posts about getting to play the game are incredibly excited.

It’s a bittersweet story, but while his cancer is terminal, at least he got the chance to play the game he wanted to, and was afraid he otherwise wouldn’t get to. I hope he finds peace and happiness going ahead.
