Spider-Man has seen a very successful launch, and has been breaking all sorts of sales records. The game has also received some great review scores all around, and we, too, rated the game quite highly as well. Now, Marvel Games’ creative director has stated that he sees the game as “the Iron Man of Marvel video games.”
Some time ago, the game’s Creative Director, Bryan Inthihar of Insomniac, had spoken about how he intended for the game to be “the Iron Man of Marvel video games”, in that they intended for it to kick off a new era for Marvel-based video games the way Iron Man did for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Following up on this, Marvel Games’ Creative Director Bill Rosemann stated in a tweet that this is exactly how the people at Marvel view the game as well, which is certainly high praise, then going on to say that just like the movie, this game will start a new era of Marvel video games.
Marvel’s resurgence of interest in the video games space is well documented by this point, but even though Spider-Man has been an excellent success for both them and Insomniac, a lot is riding on the games that will follow it, such as The Avengers, which is currently in development at Crystal Dynamics.
You can check out the tweet by Bill Rosemann below. Spider-Man is now available for the PS4.
One of my fave parts of this video is when @bryanintihar talks about how Marvel’s Spider-Man is intended as “the Iron Man of Marvel video games,” which is exactly how we view it. As with that first MCU hit, #SpiderManPS4 kicks off a new era for Marvel console games. #BeGreater https://t.co/U1eHdZEmoe
