Cross play is something we want to see in basically every game, and it’s something that’s now become even more of a possibility, thanks to Sony’s recent announcement. Several games are now working toward having cross play functionalities, and another such title might be the upcoming Dead or Alive 6.

Recently, we had the chance to ask some of our most burning questions to Yohe Shimbori of Team Ninja, who’s serving as the upcoming fighter’s director and producer, and asked him if the game would have cross play. “It’s not something we can promise now,” he told GamingBolt, “but it is one of my dreams.”

We also asked Shimbori-san about the injury mechanics in Dead or Alive 6, and he gave us a few details on that as well. Essentially, characters will now visually represent physical changes according to the conditions of the fights, so if they fall down, they’ll get dirty, and if they take powerful hits, they will show visible injuries.

“As a way of showing ‘intense fighting entertainment,’ we’ve included a system that makes it easy to see the dirt and injuries on someone who was in an intense match,” Shimbori-san said. “The specs may change in the future, but for this game when characters move they sweat, they get dirty if they fall or collide, and after the special skill Break Blow is used they launch a powerful smash that causes visible injury.”

This feature, however, is only a cosmetic one, and not one that will actually impact the fights themselves. Shimbori-san told us that it would “not effect gameplay”.

Dead or Alive 6 launches on February 15, 2019 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for our full interview with Yohei Shimbori.
