Pokemon Let’s Go Could Get a Johto Game Next If Current One Does Well, Says Developer

Hopefully, the Let’s Go games won’t replace the traditional Pokemon remakes, however.

Pokemon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! represent something entirely new for the franchise. They’re not new mainline entries in the series, nor are they remakes in the traditional sense that we have had Pokemon game remakes in the past. They are, instead, reimagining of the original Pokemon games done in a new, more casual style.

And assuming that Let’s Go does well enough, the next game could visit Johto, director Junichi Masuda revealed in an interview with Eurogamer. When speaking about the omission of baby Pokemon and Pokemon that the original 151 evolve into, but which were introduced in later games, Masuda stated that if the reception to Let’s Go is good, a sequel could definitely happen.

If that were to happen, it is unclear how it would work alongside the existing two lines of Pokemon games we already have—the new entries, and the remakes of the older games. Would Let’s Go replace the remakes, or would it exist as a third line alongside the other two?

Pokemon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Eevee! launch on Nintendo Switch on November 16. If you want to learn more about Let’s Go, check out the recent report detailing how the Master Trainers in the post game will work.
