While revenue has increased, profits have remained at the same level.

With the second quarter of the financial year having come to an end, it’s that time where companies talk about their revenues and projections for the remainder of the year. After reports from the likes of Sony and Nintendo, next in line is Konami, who’ve reported that their performance hasn’t seen much growth over last year, but remains steady nonetheless.

Konami reports that their revenues for the first half of financial year 2018-19 (April 2018-September 2018) are at ¥122.2bn, which is a 5.9 per cent year-on-year increase over revenues for the same period the previous year, which stood at ¥115.4bn. While revenues have increased, however, operating profits seem to have plateaued for now, standing steady at ¥25bn with a 0.3 per cent year-on-year growth.

According to Konami’s projections, their revenues for the entirety of the financial year will be ¥250bn, with operating profits for the entire duration being ¥50bn, which means they’re expecting more or less a similar level of performance in the second half of the financial year as well.

Though Konami didn’t give any specific figures for how many units their game releases have sold, they did report that the Digital Entertainment division of the company has performed better. Revenues for Konami’s Digital Entertainment division stand at ¥66.8bn, which is a 15.7 per cent year-on-year increase over the previous financial year’s first half figures of ¥57.7bn.
