If you’re a non-gamer, there’s no better time to change that. 2010 was a brilliant year for us gamers, with the likes of Red Dead Redemption, Super Mario Galaxy 2, StarCraft 2 and Mass Effect 2 having been released last year. This year, we’ve already had the likes of Crysis 2, Bulletstorm, LittleBigPlanet 2, Dead Space 2 and many more. The coming half of 2011, though, will be seeing some of the best releases in gaming history- The Elder Scrolls V, a new Legend of Zelda, Battlefield 3, Uncharted 3… and what’s best is that there’s not just one type of games coming out in the coming months- you’ve got games from practically every genre to look forward to.
Below, we have listed seven games, one from seven genres each (FPS, TPS, Action Adventure, Sports, Racers, RPGs, MMOs) listed for you to buy. Of course, we weren’t able to list ALL games, since there’re a crapload of them coming out, so please don’t nuke our offices if you don’t see your favourite games down there. Be very sure that we’re looking forward to your games with great anticipation as well. It’s just because we can list only one game per genre that your game wasn’t probably listed. If it was listed, then, well, we know we rock.

FIRST PERSON SHOOTER- Battlefield 3
This is not scripted. You can destroy whatever you want, wherever you want, and however you want.
There are a lot of FPS’s coming out this year- Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3, RAGE, Halo Anniversary, GoldenEye 007: Reloaded… so believe me when I was the decision to choose Battlefield 3 over all the other shooters was a very tough one. However, it wasn’t the wrong one. Battlefield 3 is everything you would want your $60 to be spent on- a 10 hour long campaign, awesome multiplayer, eye candy graphics… Battlefield 3 is a shooter fan’s- correction, a gamer’s dream come true. It’s got destructible environments like never before, thrilling run and gun gameplay, a brilliant multiplayer mode. But most importantly, it’s a slap in the face to all those who had been rambling on about “casualization” and how Call of Duty had ruined the genre forever. Battlefield 3 might not have things like modding tools, or scripted events from the COD series, but when it releases, it will be awesome as hell.
THIRD PERSON SHOOTER- Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception
Some developers dream, but very few actually act on them. This, Naughty Dog does.
Just when we thought Naughty Dog could never surpass the wonderful, the awesome Uncharted 2, they showed us just what they had in store for us with the next Uncharted game. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception looks… it looks like nothing we’ve ever seen before. It has the same wonderful visuals we have come to love the Uncharted series for, the same cinematic action, the same lovable characters, the same thrilling, action packed gameplay. The biggest improvement this time around, though, is the multiplayer. If the recent multiplayer beta is anything to go by (it is), then we not only have one of the best single player campaigns on our hands with Uncharted 3, we also have an extremely addictive, very well fleshed out multiplayer mode to pour countless of hours into. While many people would have wanted to see games like Gears of War 3 in this category, we believe Uncharted 3 deserves the spotlight here more than any other title.
ACTION ADVENTURE- Batman: Arkham City
Batman + Catwoman = Badass-ery at its best
What is it that you’re saying? Skyward Sword? Assassin’s Creed? They should be up here? Well, *censored profanity*. Sure, Skyward Sword and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations look awesome, but Batman: Arkham City looks legendary. If any game has a shot at becoming GOTY 2011, it’s this game. Arkham Asylum was already enough to turn my dream of becoming Batman into reality- Arkham City seems to take that one step ahead. This time around, we’ll have access to an entire city, five times the size of Arkham in AA. The action will be smoother, the gadgets more awesome, the campaign longer and much better. Enemies like Two-Face, Penguin and the Riddler will make physical appearances, and Catwoman will be playable. And that’s not even half of it. Arkham City looks bigger, badder and better than Arkham Asylum in every way, and will surely kick more ass than any other action adventure game one can cook up.
