Mass Effect: Andromeda Receives Update For Xbox One X Enhancements

EA has silently updated the divisive RPG from last year with visual enhancements for the Xbox One X.

Mass Effect Andromeda is far and away from the legacy and reception of the original trilogy, but in spite of its flaws and inconsistencies, it’s still a really good game. Some of its inconsistencies are in the visuals area, which were, especially at launch, riddled with bugs and a lack of polish, but still displayed the potential for some really stunning stuff, especially when played on high end PCs.

Now, that is possible to witness on a console as well. A patch containing Xbox One X enhancements for Mass Effect Andromeda has now been released. Weighing 1.68 GB, the patch has brought about some significant visual improvements, but it’s unclear whether it also comes with 4K – or native 4K, to be more specific – support.

Mass Effect Andromeda’s Microsoft Store page mentions that it is now Xbox One X enhanced, while it’s also been added into Microsoft’s ever-growing list of games with Xbox One X enhancements. However, while both mention HDR support, neither of them talk about Ultra HD and 4K resolutions.

Given the fact that post-launch patches have ironed out some of the game’s most glaring technical issues from launch, and that it now looks better than it ever has, in addition to how it’s just a solid experience to begin with, if you haven’t played Mass Effect Andromeda till now, this seems like a great time to do so.

Mass Effect’s future as a whole also doesn’t look as dire as it did roughly a year ago, with BioWare boss Casey Hudson recently having said that the studio intends to return to the franchise eventually. Here’s a suggestion- to tide us over until such time that happens, release a remaster (or 4K patches) for the original trilogy. One can always dream, right?
