Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s New Mastery Levels Are A New Way To Spend Ability Points Post-Level 50

With over 70 Mastery Levels to choose from, each of which can be upgraded 20 times, there's going to be whole lot of ways for you to upgrade your misthios.

A couple weeks back, Ubisoft released a meaty patch for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, one which, among other things, increased the level cap in the game from 50 to 70. While the changes were generally well received, one of the issues a large section of the community raised was that after hitting level 50, there wasn’t really much you could do with any new Ability Points you earned, which is something Ubisoft promised they would be fixing in the coming weeks.

They have now given interesting details on how exactly they’re going to do that- Mastery Levels, which will be added to the game as part of update 1.1.1 this week, are described by Ubisoft as “the best way to upgrade your character later in the game”. Upon hitting level 50, players will be able to spend their Ability Points to increase stats in any of the three skill trees- Hunter, Warrior, or Assassin. Stats such as health, armour, adrenaline, damage, resistance, and many others can be upgraded, and these upgrades will stack on top of the already existing stats of your character, weapons, and gear.

In total, there will be 72 Master Levels. Each Mastery Level can be upgraded 20 times, and each upgrade costs 1 Ability Point. So there’s a whole lot of room left for character progression. The best part is that Mastery Levels can be reset independently of Abilities whenever you want “for a handful of drachmae”.

Beyond the free updates Ubisoft has been making to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, there’s plenty more to look forward to by way of paid expansions as well. The first episode of the game’s first DLC, Legacy of the Hidden Blade, launches on December 4. Read more on that through here.
