For many people, an important part of the journey of experiencing games is the individual aspect of learning and seeing everything with a sense of novelty. If somebody knows about cool plot developments or unlocking game mechanics or items ahead of time, this can diminish the value of the final reveal of such a great development for players as intended by game developers – hence, the “spoiling.” While having a game spoiled for someone is more typically thought of as a simple process by which a curious, or perhaps, impatient person goes online to look up information on a certain game, sometimes the process by which people can be spoiled is not so straightforward. For some of those unconventional ways in which people can spoil a game for themselves, we’ve written this feature.

Warning: Ironically enough, there might be spoilers ahead.

Metal Gear Solid 4’s Big Reveal Spoiled In Advance

Metal Gear Solid 4 for the PlayStation 3 was as epic and cinematic a game as you would have to expect both from Hideo Kojima and from the Metal Gear series. Metal Gear Solid 4 occupies an important role in the way as it serves as a unifying point for all Metal Gear games thus far, and serves as Solid Snake’s last journey, chronologically, or at least until which point he is called on for another adventure. In any case, this image of the game being in development spoils a significant cutscene wherein Big Boss, a leading villain in the Metal Gear series, is revealed, distinguishable amongst the cast of characters by the trademark eye patch. It doesn’t spoil much about the game itself, but it’s still rather unfortunate.
