Stardew Valley

Those who play farming RPG Stardew Valley on the Nintendo Switch should take note. The latest performance patch is now live, and should address frame rate issues faced by Switch players on larger farms. It also improves performance in locations that have lots of light sources (which includes torches).

Creator Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone also offered an update on multiplayer for the PS4 and Xbox One versions. “The console multiplayer updates are in progress,” said Barone. “I’m doing everything I can to get them out as quick as possible. I don’t have a solid release date yet but my hope is it will be within the next few months. I’ll announce when I have anything more concrete to share.”

Barone recently split from publisher Chucklefish to go into self-publishing. While Barone is handling the publishing for the Xbox One, PS4, PC, and PlayStation Vita versions of Stardew Valley, Chucklefish is still publishing the Switch and iOS versions (along with the upcoming Android version). He also confirmed that development of a new game set in the same universe as Stardew Valley has been going on “for a while”.

It’s certainly going to be a while longer before we hear about it. So in the meantime, check out the patch notes for version 1.3.333 of Stardew Valley below:

Changes

  • Improved performance in locations with lots of light sources (e.g. torches).
  • Improved performance on farms with lots of animals.
  • Tweaked new “H” health icon.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed multiplayer visual glitch when another player uses a tool and then starts moving in a new direction.
  • Fixed “fishing stance” visual glitches in multiplayer.
